1. Project Overview
This custom-built spaceship themed commercial playground was delivered as the core attraction of a municipal children’s park’s space science popularization zone. Centered around a full-size interstellar spacecraft main structure, the system features two stainless steel spiral tube slides on each side, three-dimensional climbing net tunnels connecting multi-level platforms, and a triple parallel wave slide set at the central entrance. The design blends immersive space exploration narrative with physical exercise functions, using food-grade LLDPE rotomolded shells for the spacecraft body and 304 stainless steel for all slide channels, delivering heavy-duty durability for high-traffic public parks. It serves as a signature outdoor science-play facility for city-level children’s parks, large community parks and science-themed scenic spots.

2.Client Requirements & Project Challenges
The client is a municipal park construction authority upgrading the city's central children's park. They positioned this area as a space science interactive zone, with four core requirements:
- Strong themed immersion: The playground should not just be a set of slides, but a complete interstellar exploration scene. It needs to carry popular science attributes and become a signature check-in spot for parent-child families in the city.
- High capacity for large passenger flow: As a city-level public park, it receives hundreds of child visitors on weekends. The equipment must have multiple slideoutlets and climbing passages to avoid long queues and safety risks caused by crowding.
- Municipal-grade long-term durability: Open-air all-year-round use with high frequency requires the slide surface to be wear-resistant, scratch-resistant and not easy to age. Ordinary plastic slides cannot meet the 10-year service life standard for municipal projects.
- Layered play for all ages: It needs to meet the needs of children of different ages at the same time — younger children need gentle, safe play, while older children pursue stimulation and challenge.
3.Custom Spaceship Playground Solution
Combining the site’s long-strip layout and science popularization positioning, we designed a horizontal extended spaceship structure with a clear functional partition: the central area is the entrance and gentle play zone for young children, and the two sides are high-difficulty slide and climbing zones for older children.
Spaceship Main Tower with Immersive Narrative
The main body is built into a realistic spacecraft shape through LLDPE rotomolding process, with portholes, satellite antennas, instrument panels and other space-themed details. The interior of the cabin is a multi-level platform space, where children can simulate driving a spaceship and carry out role-playing, integrating popular science cognition into play. The outer shell is formed in one piece by rotomolding, with smooth and burr-free edges, which is safe for children to touch and climb.
Dual-Side 304 Stainless Steel Spiral Tube Slides
Two independent stainless steel spiral tube slides are arranged on the left and right sides of the spacecraft, corresponding to the high and low platforms respectively. Compared with ordinary plastic slides, 304 stainless steel slides have obvious advantages in municipal public places:
- Super wear resistance: The smooth metal surface is not easy to be scratched and worn, and remains smooth after long-term high-frequency use.
- Weather resistance: It will not fade, become brittle or deform under long-term sun exposure and temperature changes, and has a service life of more than 15 years.
- Smooth sliding experience: The polished inner wall has uniform friction, and the sliding speed is stable and controllable, which is safer for older children.
- Easy to clean: The smooth surface can be wiped directly, and is not easy to hide dirt, which is very suitable for public places with large flow of people.
3D Climbing Net Tunnels (Transfer Nets)
A three-dimensional climbing net tunnel system is set between the platforms of each height, which is the “transfer cabin” of the spaceship in the narrative. Children can crawl and shuttle between platforms of different heights through the net tunnel, which exercises their limb strength, sense of balance and spatial cognition. The climbing net is made of thickened nylon material with reinforced edge wrapping, and the mesh size strictly complies with anti-head-jamming safety standards.
Central Triple Parallel Wave Slide Set
At the front entrance of the spacecraft, three parallel wave slides with gentle slope are configured, which is the play area for younger children. The three slides side by side support children to race together, which is highly interactive and can also effectively divert passenger flow and reduce queuing. The slope is slow and the slide surface is wide, which is friendly to children aged 3–5, and parents can also easily take care of them at the exit.

The design of multiple entrances and exits and multi-channel slides can accommodate more than 50 children to play at the same time. The functional partition of different difficulty levels naturally diverts children of different ages, effectively avoiding crowding and collision, and is very suitable for high-traffic public scenes such as municipal parks and scenic spots.
Stainless Steel Configuration Meets Municipal Durability Standards
The core slide channel is made of 304 stainless steel, which is matched with a galvanized steel frame and LLDPE shell. The overall service life is much longer than that of all-plastic playgrounds, which reduces the frequency of later replacement and maintenance and saves long-term operation costs for municipal projects.
Full-Age Layered Play System
The difficulty gradient is clear: the central triple slide is for young children, the climbing net tunnel is for middle-aged children, and the stainless steel spiral slide on both sides is for older children. 1. Can the length and curvature of stainless steel slides be customized according to the site?
Yes. Stainless steel slides support fully customized size, curvature and drop. We can design the slide route according to your site height difference and area to ensure both safety and fun.
2. Is the stainless steel slide hot in summer?
